Mindful Photography: A Creative Self-Discovery Experience

Brighton Workshop

Aim

What would you discover if you slowed down enough to really see?

What if photography was not just about capturing the world around you, but also about discovering something within yourself?

This immersive 6-hour workshop invites you to slow down, observe more deeply, and reconnect not only with the world around you, but also with yourself.

Whether you use a camera or a smartphone, this experience is not about technical perfection or producing “perfect” images. Instead, it is an invitation to explore photography as a tool for presence, intuition, emotional expression, and creative self-discovery.

Through a series of guided photography exercises, mindfulness practices, reflective prompts, and gentle explorations, you will learn to see differently, trust your own perspective, and use image-making as a way to explore thoughts, feelings, memories, and personal stories.

This workshop offers a supportive and nurturing space where curiosity replaces judgement, allowing creativity to emerge naturally.

It aims to introduce photography as a mindful and reflective practice that supports creativity, self-awareness, and personal expression.

By slowing down and becoming more present, you will explore how photography can become more than a way of recording what you see.

It can become a way of understanding how you see, feel, and connect with the world.

This isn't simply a workshop about taking photographs mindfully; it's about changing your relationship with photography and yourself.

Objectives

At the end of the workshop you will be able to:

- Develop a more mindful approach to photography by learning to slow down, observe, and engage more consciously with your surroundings.

- Explore ways of seeing beyond the obvious, discovering beauty, meaning, and stories in everyday moments.

- Learn simple mindfulness techniques to quiet the mind, increase awareness, and encourage creative flow.

- Use photography as a form of self-expression, exploring how images can communicate emotions, ideas, memories, and personal experiences.

- Experiment with intuitive image-making and develop confidence in trusting your own creative instincts.

- Reflect on your photographs to discover personal meanings, visual patterns, and connections within your own creative journey.

- Build confidence in your unique way of seeing and develop a more authentic photographic voice.
