Brighton In-Venue/Outdoor Workshop

Aim


How many times have you wished you knew how to pose better in your photos on your travels?

How many times have you wished you knew how to use your mobile phone camera better?


No need to worry any more because this workshop will give you the confidence and the skills you need to capture better memories that you will be super happy with!


You will be introduced to some basic photographic composition rules along with the main photography functions of your phone and of course, you will practise a variety of posing tips around some of the most iconic and popular spots of Brighton captured from the best angles to make you and the background look more photogenic.


Are you ready to have fun, feel the confidence of a model and go home with some great photos and new skills to practise with in your travels?


It will be taught on an iPhone. However, both iPhone users as well as Android smartphone users are welcome with any models of phones. DSLR, SLR and mirrorless camera users are also of course more than welcome.


Objectives


At the end of the workshop you will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of Mobile Phone Photography
- demonstrate a practical engagement with mobile photography by taking your own photographs
- demonstrate a practical engagement with posing techniques for your phone camera by taking selfies or photos of others
- critically reflect on the making of your own images and discuss the making process

Introductions

Theory session – explaining with visuals the basic principles of Mobile Phone Photography

11:50 - 13:00

Play Time - theory into practice- Part I


You will be taking photographs using your smartphone. You will work on specific posing tips I will be giving you applying the techniques discussed in the previous section. I will be guiding you along the way and giving you individual attention and practical tips on how to achieve your desired results.

Play Time - theory into practice- Part II

 

14:15 – 15:45

More posing and shooting time practice


Editing time (if desired by the participants)


You will be editing some of the photographs you took during your practice. You will need to download the ‘Snapseed’ app before you come to the workshop. I will be demonstrating some basic editing techniques using Snapseed which you will apply in your photographs as a way to experiment and play.


 

15:45 - 16:20

Feedback

We will be looking at each other’s photographs, commenting on them in a non-judgemental environment, suggesting new ideas, reflecting on the making process and sharing your experiences from posing for your phone camera.

Summing up on the workshop themes, leaving your workshop feedback, and suggesting ideas for further workshops based on your needs.


 

Handouts 

At the end of the workshop, I will be sending you e-handouts by email.

- if you cancel within 15 days from the start of the course.

- if the course is cancelled but a new date is scheduled

- if you stop attending it or any sessions of it
